Stop Guessing. Start Winning.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
TikTok Shop USA makeup moved $96M and 3.79M units in 90 days, and one house takes a fifth of it. Tarte holds 21.3% of category GMV and leads three of the ten subcategories outright. Read the leaderboard and that is all you will ever see.
This report reads the shelf the other way round: not who sells most, but whose demand is worth having, and what is left over for you. Resellers, white labels and shops selling a house they do not own are stripped out before a single figure is computed. Every genuine brand is then ranked on the quality of its demand rather than the size of it, across eleven independently exported fields. Each field ends in a verdict scored against the other ten, and a move you can run on Monday.
The first thing it tells you is uncomfortable: in 8 of the 11 fields the units leader is not the Power leader, and the biggest sellers in makeup are the least defensible.
Built on actual TikTok Shop sales:
998+ genuine brands · 11,189 products · $96M in 90-day sales · 11 categories · 9 price tiers ·

Description
DECODE THE Q2 2026 TIKTOK SHOP MAKEUP RANKS, MOMENTUM & FIELD DEEP DIVE. THE INTELLIGENCE THAT SEPARATES A LISTING FROM SCALE.
SCALE IN 2026.
Anyone can sell on TikTok Shop. But can you scale on it?
No buyer to convince. No shelf to win. The barrier is durable velocity, and this report decodes it field by field.
Who is it for?
Beauty brand founders, CMOs, investors, brand and category marketers, consultants, product developers and TikTok Shop operators.
Q2 2026 TikTok Shop USA Fragrance in 92 slides: 224 genuine brands, 3,475 products, $46.7M in actual 90-day sales, 5 categories, 9 price tiers.
Every block reads three ways: Entering a field, Scaling in one, Leading one.
🧹 First, the Field Needs Hygiene
Resellers, multi-house retailers and satellite shops stripped out before a single number runs.
→ Entering: Benchmark against companies that exist, at prices they actually charge, rather than shops trading houses they do not own.
→ Scaling: The raw Makeup Tools export lists 2,000 listings. Only 889 survive, across 251 real brands, and the shop that led the file sold 33 units in 90 days.
→ Leading: Every field is cleaned on its own listings, never on a rule ported from the field next door.
🗺️ LAND: Where to Play
Price Architecture and the Ex-Leader Test. Demand across 9 tiers, units versus GMV, then remeasured per brand with each tier’s leader removed.
→ Entering: Find where volume ends and margin begins before you set a price you cannot move later.
→ Scaling: For Overall makeup, volume and money part company at $31. Below it a tier sells more than it earns; above it every tier earns more than its share.
→ Leading: Learn which tier you are personally propping up.
🗺️ What a Brand Earns, and Who It Shares the Rung With
The 90-day GMV one non-leading brand takes on each tier, leader removed, beside how many products share every 10% price step.
→ Entering: See what an ordinary brand already takes on the best shelf, not what a model says it might.
→ Scaling: Concealer & Foundation’s best tier pays a non-leading brand $86,153 a quarter. The same read on Makeup Tools returns $7,421.
→ Leading: See whether your price rung is filling up behind you.
⚡ IGNITE: How to Gain Velocity
The Velocity Field. The SKUs actually clearing a real unit floor, with formats derived from each field’s own products. Everything else is shelf decoration.
→ Entering: Build the format breaking out and kill the SKU padding your catalogue.
→ Scaling: In Eyeshadow, sticks and crayons are 8% of the shelf and 30% of demand. In Concealer & Foundation, serums and skin tints are 13% and 29%.
→ Leading: Check your hero is still in the field.
🧹 Accelerating versus Coasting
Every field read on how much of its qualifying volume comes from products first listed inside the window, against products pulled back to life from an older listing.
→ Entering: Know whether to launch into momentum or take share from an incumbent.
→ Scaling: 30% of the products clearing Lip’s floor are newly listed. In Eyebrow and Makeup Tools it is none at all.
→ Leading: Spot the shelf going static underneath you.
Positioning White Space. Seven stopovers scored rational to emotional: Ingredients, Functional Benefits, Purity, Origin, Emotional Promise, Purpose, Experiential. Every brand read against its own owned channels, not its listings.
→ Entering: Take an angle no incumbent owns.
→ Scaling: The profiled twenty split 10 Balanced, 6 Story-led and 4 Innovation-led, and six of them have no owned channel worth reading.
→ Leading: See where your center of gravity has drifted.
🔒 STICK: Does It Hold
The Sticky Signal Quadrant. Every brand read on units-weighted rating and review depth: Durable, Early, Hype, Cold.
→ Entering: Learn the rating and review thresholds before you budget for reviews.
→ Scaling: In Overall Makeup the Hype Risk corner has the highest median units of any quadrant, 123,041 against Durable Demand’s 54,158.
→ Leading: Prove durability, not one viral quarter.
🏆 SCALE: Who Actually Leads
Power Rank vs Raw Units, and the Rank Shifts. Power Score ranks demand quality, not size: Core Demand 40%, Hero SKU 25%, Momentum 20%, Sticky 15%. Every row carries its shift badge against raw units: riser, faller, level or new.
→ Entering: Know whose demand is worth having rather than who simply moved the most boxes.
→ Scaling: In Overall Makeup the units leader ranks 12th on Power, and 8 of the 11 fields have a units leader who is not the Power leader.
→ Leading: Find incumbents whose Power Rank is sliding faster than their units.
The Top-Ten Floor. What the tenth brand actually sold, and how much of the field is still outside that ten.
→ Entering: Size the prize before you budget for it.
→ Scaling: A top-ten place in Lip costs 18,526 units and 29% of the field sits outside the ten. In Makeup Brushes it is 2%.
→ Leading: Know how much room is left behind you.
Too thin to read velocity honestly? We drop the read rather than invent risers. Makeup Base & Primer is marked unreadable, with 3 SKUs over the floor, not estimated, and it scores out of four rather than five because of it.
🧭 THE PLAY: The Read Becomes a Plan
The Brand Lens. Every field closes on the five decisions in the order you make them: MARKET, LAND, IGNITE, STICK, SCALE. Each one states what the quarter’s data says and the single move it points at, then scores the field against the median of the others.
→ Entering: Leave with an entry lane, an entry price and the brand you will actually fight.
→ Scaling: Bronzer & Highlighter closes at 5 of 5. Eyebrow closes at 0 of 5, with the lever holding it back named rather than implied.
→ Leading: A specific move per section, not a summary of the quarter.

How Do We Collect Data?
Actual TikTok Shop sales using multiple platforms and tools, validated with shops. Not modelled estimates.
The Power Score weights sustained performance over viral moments:
Core Demand 40%, Hero SKU 25%, Momentum 20%, Sticky 15%, each percentiled across the cleaned genuine-brand base.
Every index carries a disclosed floor. Every exclusion is listed. Counts are deduplicated on the platform’s own product ID, so a product listed in both a field and the market above it is counted once. Where a screen cannot run honestly, we say so instead of filling the space with a chart.
Start from the decoded picture instead.
